Crested tit nest - fibre art wall sculpture

240.00

A crested tit nest - two crested tit chicks nestle in their snug tree trunk nest, being fed a juicy lacewing by their parent. The chicks are hand-crocheted from kid-silk, mohair and Shetland wool, and the parent from Shetland, merino and alpaca yarns. The chicks sit in a nest of sheep’s wool and moss, inside a section of sustainably harvested cork bark tube. The adult bird carries a tiny fabric and cotton lacewing in its beak and is finished with a uniquely numbered ring on its leg.

Please note that each sculpture will look slightly different as the pieces of tree bark are different. Photos are for illustration only.

This fibre-art is created to commission. There are two styles: one has the chicks peeping out of a ‘pop-hole’ with the nest fully enclosed inside the trunk, and the other is open at the top. The style depends on the cork bark I’m able to source, but both styles have two chicks, one with his beak open, being fed by an adult with an insect in its beak. Please contact me if you have a preference.

The whole artwork is about 18-24cm (7-9”) long by 9cm (3”) wide and extends about 9cm (3”) from the wall. The birds are approximately life-sized. This wall-mounted piece looks particularly effective against a plain background and has a simple metal loop at the back for easy hanging.

This unique sculpture is available to order and usually takes 3-4 weeks to create.

Your fibre art will come securely packaged in a sturdy cardboard box, nestled in tissue paper. As standard, I ship all of my pieces by First Class Signed For post (UK) or International Tracked and Signed post (overseas).
